ACU Championships Round 2.

Top Fuel Bike.

Reigning ACU Champion Neil Midgley won the opening round despite traction problems. With Pro class cars at the event the track conditions should improve Midgley’s performance. Steve Woollatt and crew had a new control box and was looking for a baseline and ran 6.080 at a personal best speed 232mph and still more to come. Al Smith had a frustrating Springspeed Nationals and will be hoping for a better meeting.

Funny Bike.

Dave Peters did not have the quickest bike, but still managed to reach the final and win the event. Lorcan Parnell was the only rider to run 6secs and will be the one to beat. Eric Richard debut his new bike last year and ran 6.59-199mph and will be looking to improve. Roger Moore had a good Springspeed Nationals doing back to back personal bests, until the cases cracked, hopefully he will be at the event. Both Jordan Kenway and Maarten Zijlstra will be hoping to qualify at the event, after both riders had issues in the last meeting.

Comp Bike.

Paul Hambridge won the opening round of the ACU Championships in Comp Bike with bracket runs of 7.3secs and recorded his first 200mph run. Reigning Champion Chris Neary was runner up and struggled with a worn out rear shock. Sean Mills was another rider to record his first 200mph pass, only for his rear sprocket to break in the eliminations. Anna Sasiak had a semi-final finish on her debut. Former champions Graham Dance, Garry Bowe and Len Paget will still the riders to look out for in this meeting.

Super Street Bike.

With Daniel Lencses not entered all eyes will on the battle between Reigning Champion Steve Venables and Springspeed Nationals winner Alan Morrison Jr. With Jake Mechaell close by we could see record breaking performances. Ross Morrison finally cracked the six-second zone and could feature if any of the top three have problems. It was a great debut for Alan Morrison running 7.6secs.
