Team GB 1st after 'The Best Build Team' Day Two - ISDE 2022

Team GB are on top of the World on Day Two of the International Six Day Enduro in Puy en Velay, France. After a challenging first day starting at the back of the order, with dust and ripped up special tests to contend with, our four World Trophy riders, are now running in first place, over 1 minute and 24 seconds clear of Italy, and a further five seconds clear of Spain.

Nathan Watson is currently the fastest TeamGB rider on the Honda (second overall), with Steve Holcombe aboard the Beta running in fourth overall. Jamie McCanney (Husqvarna) is eighth overall and Jed Etchells (Fantic) is running twelfth overall, a stunning result having only joined the Trophy Team a few weeks ago to replace the injured Brad Freeman.

In the Junior Trophy Team, Aaron Gordon (Yamaha) Alex Walton (Sherco) and Harry Edmondson (Fantic) are riding excellently, and sitting comfortably on the podium in Third, behind Italy and Finland, but ahead of Austrailia and the Czech Republic.

The TeamGB Women’s team are also flying, with Janie Daniels (Fantic) leading the way, second woman overall, ably supported by Rosie Rowett (KTM) and Nieve Holmes (Sherco) bringing the team to Second in the world behind the USA currently.

Jane Daniels had a standout performance to finish second overall in the Women’s Trophy.

Test 1 was better today with everyone feeling a lot more comfortable on their bikes and putting in consistent time. All of the trophy team were within the top 13.

Test 2 was really good for all ten riders with Steve Holcombe finishing 3rd, Nathan Watson 4th, Aaron Gordon and Alex Walton had standout rides in the Junior class to finish 11th and 12 respectively, and Jane got her first third of the day. It was very dusty but we put in some great times and were lying first overall for day 2 after just two tests.

Test 3 was brilliant and once again the fan support was incredible. There were some impressive results from all riders with Nathan and Steve finishing 3rd and 4th and Jane placed second. Jed Etchells had a great ride to finish 7th in the Trophy class.

Test 4 was the Trophy team’s best test of the day as Nathan got his highest test finish with a second place. There was a short shower of rain for the trophy and juniors which cleared the dust and helped. Jamie put in a stellar ride to place 4th in the Trophy class!

Test 5 was a great way to end the day as the crowd was massive and cheering everyone on. Nathan and Steve placed 2nd and 3rd respectively which was incredible! Nieve Holmes had her best result of the day in 8th.

There are also over 40 riders in the wider TeamGB contingent, with clubs from across the country having entered teams as part of the club competition. The Olympics of Motorcycling is an incredible but long week, and we’re wishing them all the best of luck for the next four days.
