On Sunday the track was better for grip and the same weather conditions as the day before.
Funny Bike.
The field was down to three racers with points leader Louis Davies qualifying in number one spot 7.191-179.24. Roger Moore was next 8.183-152.59 followed by Lorcan Parnell who had handling problem 14.954.
Davies had a bye to the final and broke the beam. In the other semi Moore ran personal best figures of 7.555-175.76 but still could not hold off Parnell who went into the shutdown with smoke coming from the bike. The final was the best race of the day, Davies put a holeshot (rt100 to 156) over Parnell who powered around to a jaw dropping personal best 6.544 at 213.94 against Davies 7.000-177.14. With one round to go in the Championship Davies is getting closer to the title.
Comp Bike.
Paul Hambridge dominated qualifying on day two with another 7.377 with a personal best speed of 192.97. After fitting new clutch basket and plates Chris Neary ran 7.889-176.36. John McLean Sr ran his best of the w/end 8.112-164.86. Mick Winyard was next 8.178-175.72. Jordan Kenway struggled 9.382-163.66 and Len Paget was on the bump spot 10.276-138.63.
Round one and Paget bogged off the start line against Hambridge who got out groove but still reached the semis 8.402. Kenway really pushed Neary who took the win 7.987 to Kenway 8.179. Winyard led from start to finish 8.087 over McLean best of the weekend 8.092. Hambridge broke the beam to reach the final. Neary got around Winyard 7.891 to Winyard 8.054. Hambridge took his second win of the weekend 7.366 to Neary best of the weekend 7.747.
Super Street Bike.
Jake Mechaell ran 6.892 at 210.01 for the number one qualifier just edging Steve Venables 6.899-208.89. Alan Morrison Jr just pipped his brother Ross for third 7.121 to 7.125. Garry Bowe finally found a combination and ran 7.359. Mark Dainty was sixth with 7.632. Dave Smith once again had gear shift problem going into neutral and decided to not compete on race day 7.948. Thurtny Martina was on the bump stop 8.023-169.80. Mark Hope had a rear wheel bearing collapsed which damaged the rear wheel, swing arm and sprocket.
Venables and Mechaell had bye runs when their opponents did not show. Morrison Jr beat Dainty who got close to the centre line. Bowe won on a holeshot against Ross Morrison 7.436 to a quicker but losing 7.414. Morrison Jr ran his best of the weekend 7.002-206.26 but it was not enough to beat Venables 6.912-216.87. In the other semi there was a stage problem with Mechaell and Bowe completed his run. But there was a re run and this time everything was ok for Mechaell, but Bowe had traction problem off the start line and was out. Venables collected his second win of the weekend with 6.935 to Mechaell 7.074.
Top Fuel Bike.
Neil Midgley attended the event to do some testing for the up and coming European Finals in a few days time. Midgley tested both days over the weekend and on his final pass he ran 6.101 at a career best speed of 222.24mph.
