Owen Monaghan and Steve Lawton chase David Degroot into the John Cooper Esses
Owen Monaghan in race 1 and Steve Lawton in race 2 took the winners trophies on a day of closely fought action in the 80cc class on Sunday at Mallory Park
Race 1 saw Owen, Steve and Championship leader David Degroot constantly swopping the lead in the most exciting race of this series so far. David unfortunately had to pull out with a technical issue on the penultimate lap allowing David Wales to step up to 3rd place whilst Owen and Steve battled it out to the chequered flag.
Owen took the win by over 1 second from Steve to add some very valuable points in the championship.
Race 2 saw Steve Lawton and Owen Monaghan fight for the lead once again with Steve getting the upper hand this time, building himself a comfortable advantage over 2nd placed Monaghan who was having an exhaust issue. Kerry Burton finished 3rd after an exciting tussle with Mackenzie Parsons 4th. Steve and Owen also took 2nd and 3rd spots in the 125cc class too.
