Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Assist with New Shower Unit

As part of Southern 100 Racing's continued commitment to improve the competitors experience when racing on the Colas Billown Course a new mobile shower unit has been installed adjacent to the present shower and toilet facilities situated in the Club Headquarters next to the Competitors Race Paddock.

Designed and built by AJC Trailers Ltd of Luton, Bedfordshire and purchased by the Southern 100 Supporters Club the new shower unit was brought to the Island from Heysham courtesy of the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company for which both the Supporters and the race organisers are extremely grateful.

George Peach, Chairman and Race Secretary said: ‘Once again the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company have shown their generosity to the local community and sport in bringing over the new mobile shower unit which will be placed next to the Club HQ to improve the shower and toilet facilities already in place and we are extremely grateful to them for the generosity and assistance.

‘The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company are of course our headline sponsors of the Southern 100 Road Races since 1999 and are one of our long-standing sponsors having first become involved in 1987 and look forward to continuing our relationship at the ‘friendly races’ in July when the races return after the two-year sabbatical caused by the world wide covid pandemic.’

Brian Thomson, Managing Director of the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company, said: ‘As headline sponsor of the Southern 100 Races we’re always keen to help the organisers improve the popular event where we can. We were pleased to help ship the new competitor mobile shower units to the Island and know it’ll be a well-used facility for many years.’

Southern 100 Racing would also like to give special thanks to 1966 Solo Champion, Selwyn Griffiths, and his driver Andy for travelling from South Wales to Luton picking up the shower unit and taking it to Heysham and to Clerk of Works Alan Vaughton for bringing the unit from Douglas to its new home at Club Headquarters in Castletown. Their efforts are very much appreciated.
