Covid: Welsh Restrictions in response to Omicron

Welsh First Minister has outlined the Welsh restrictions which came into force on Boxing Day. Mark Drakeford stated that Wales would re-open after Christmas, and we must do everything to go on protecting ourselves and take care of others.

Two-metre social distancing rules have returned in public places and Outdoor event will be limited to 50, with 30 indoors.There will be an exception for team sports, with up to 50 spectators able to gather, in addition to those taking part. There is also an exception for events involving children

First Minister Mark Drakeford called for people to limit the amount of socialising they do and take a lateral flow tests before they go to meet other people. Wales' rules for fully vaccinated people who are a contact of someone with coronavirus have been changed - with a switch to daily testing instead of self-isolation, including for the Omicron variant.

ACU Chairman Roy Humphrey commented, ‘Whilst we all thought we were coming out of the Covid pandemic, as we all know we have been hit by the Omicron variant which is significantly more infectious. We must all do what we can to protect each other whilst participating in our various disciplines and follow any and all UK Government advice, guidance and rules and our fellow licence holders and Officials must also adhere to the rules/guidance issued by their respective devolved administrations’.
