Nora MX ACU Championship – Quad Round 8 and Sidecar Round 6

This Nora Championship event was hosted by the Nora MX team at the Milton Malsor MX Park set in Northamptonshire. It was originally planned at Ringmer but cancelled due to adverse weather conditions. There have since been two quad events so this was round 6 for the sidecars, but Round 8 for the Quads.

After the weather extremes we have been seeing, the weather was much kinder to us for this round, mostly dry, hot and sunny with a few showers at the end of the day.

The sidecar group was split into two classes, with the three GP Teams racing without collecting any points. These teams were Stuart Brown / Josh Chamberlain, Dan Foden / Nathan Cooper, and George Kinge / Chris Pannell.

In race 1 Dan Foden / Nathan Cooper took an early lead from Tony Grahame / Zac Snell with Stuart Brown / Josh Chamberlain third, but they were on a charge and blasted into the lead on lap one going on to take the win. Dan Foden / Nathan Cooper held with George Kinge / Chris Pannell fighting through to third and closing the gap but didn’t find a way past. The first of the point scorers were Tony Grahame / Zac Snell who held fourth with Jack Etheridge / Jim Kinge in fifth ahead of Michael Hodges back from four wheels to three with the help of stand in passenger Dan Phelps.

In Race 2 George Kinge / Chris Pannell took the holeshot, with Stuart Brown / Josh Chamberlain close behind, passing on the first lap and going on to take a second win. George Kinge / Chris Pannell held second. Jack Etheridge / Jim Kinge had a great start holding third despite challenges from behind. Michael Hodges / Dan Phelps fought past Sam Osbaldiston / Harley Lloyd into fourth with Lee Foyle / Kevin Foyle just behind.

In the final sidecar race Stuart Brown / Josh Chamberlain were missing they had mechanical issues and didn’t make it to the line. The race got underway with Tony Graeme / Zac Snell charging into the lead with Dan Foden / Nathan Cooper putting their race 2 clutch problems behind them and chasing hard, but they struggled to find a way past, there was a great battle with Dan Foden / Nathan Cooper eventually taking the advantage and the final race win of the day. Tony Graeme / Zac Snell took a brilliant second. Jack Etheridge / Jim Kinge held third until George Kinge / Chris Pannell blasted past leaving them in fourth just ahead of Michael Hodges / Dan Phelps with Sam Osbaldiston / Harley Lloyd taking sixth.

Jack Etheridge / Jim Kinge took the overall championship win with Tony Grahame/ Zac Snell a close second.

In Race 1 of the Pro / Pro Am group, Dafydd Davies took an early lead holding the advantage throughout to take a great win. Harry Walker held second, behind Mark McLernon was on a charge recovering from a slow start to blast into third in the final few laps passing Dean Dillon who took fourth.

Race 2 started with an early lead for Mark McLernon but the pressure from behind was strong with Dafydd Davies blasting into the lead but he seemed to be struggling with the bike dropping back to fourth leaving Mark McLernon to take his first win of the day. Jamie Morgan held third for most of the race but came under pressure in the final few laps. Oli Sansom fought from a slow start to take second with Dean Dillon on a charge fighting through to take third, Jamie Morgan stuck close to him taking fourth with Dean Dillon back to fifth.

In the final Pro / Pro Am race of the day Dafydd Davies took the lead from the start but there was a close battle he was challenged by Mark McLernon who moved ahead at the halfway point and taking a second win. Behind, disaster struck with Dafydd Davies left track side with mechanical problems. Jamie Morgan tucked into second with Dean Dillon third but was strongly challenged by Oli Sansom who moved ahead but he didn’t get away with Dean Dillon re-taking that third place at the flag, much to the delight of his supporters.

The Clubman Elite raced with the Masters A group, Race 1 started with an early lead for Luke Berlyn, who held the advantage throughout to take a great win. Behind by Zak Beevers tucked into second but was challenged by Marcus Sprason who fought back to take second on the final lap. Llestyn Rees took fourth.

In Race 2 Marcus Sprason didn’t leave anything to chance, taking an early lead but Luke Berlyn fought back from a slow start to take the lead in the final few laps. Liam Garbett tucked in behind holding third until passed by Dylan Mckenna.

In the final race of the day, Luke Berlyn took a third great win, after fighting past Marcus Sprason. This time Dylan Mckenna held the advantage over Liam Garbett and took third.

In the Clubman / Masters B group, Will Mead had a good day taking three great wins and holding the championship lead.
