Frittenden Youth Championship and Pairs Preview

Frittenden & DMCC Presents the ACU British Youth Grasstrack Championships and the Summer Spectacular Pairs Meeting on Saturday 24th & Sunday 25th July 2021.

On Saturday 24th July the very best in British young talent take to the Sandhurst Bridge Farm circuit in Kent to battle for the 2021 British Youth Championships.

All the Auto-Cadet competitors are making their debut in the British Youth Championships.

In the Junior class there are a number of riders to look out for. Archie Rolph, the 2019 Auto Cadet champion, looks to add another British Youth title to his name, but will likely be pushed by the 2019 Cadet Champion Cooper Rushen and Jamie Etherington who has raced a lot on the speedway in recent years. There is a slight international flavour to this class with Thomas Vining and Lewis Leblancq making the journey across from Guernsey.

The Inters class looks set to be a battle between Max Perry, who won the 2019 British Junior title and the 2019 FIM World Champion in the 125cc Class, and Sam Norris who returns to racing after suffering a serious injury riding speedway in 2019.

The Saturday meeting is also supported by the GT140 class.

On Sunday 25th July FDMCC presents the Summer Spectacular Pairs meeting, which includes a whole host of British & European Champions.

The best supported class is the 250cc Solos and feature former Speedway rider Rob Mear making a rare outing on the grass pairing with Lee Bassett, the 1992 British Champion Graham Thomas pairing with Phil Thomas, defending Pairs champion Russell Little pairs with former British Champion Adam Shipp and Cameron Taylor pairing with Mark Taylor - these 4 look to be the ones to beat.

The 350cc Solos see's local man Ricky Sandford pair with former Masters Champion & Kent Kings Paul Hurry, reigning 350cc Pairs champions Andrew Whitaker & Jamie Fenn-Smith pair up again to defend their title and will also be pushed by Barry Powell & Wayne Broadhurst.

The big news in the 500cc Solos is multi-Masters Champion Andrew Appleton returning to ride at Frittenden and is paired by Australian Rodney McDonald, and will be pushed by reigning Champion Edward Kennett who is pairing with Charley Powell and Jake Mulford & James Shanes. Another Masters Champion Zach Wajtknecht pairs with Arran Butcher to form another formidable pairing.

The Left Hand Sidecars has all the usual crews in action, with all crews able to take the crown.

The 500cc Sidecars have mixed the pairs up and have tried to make it as even as possible. Former European Champion Josh Goodwin/Liam Brown & Vice European Champion Mitch Godden/Paul Smith and Battle Of Britain winner Dan Berwick/Mark Hopkins head the lineup.

The 1000cc Right Hand Sidecar lineup sees Masters Champions Mark Cossar/Gareth Williams pairs with brother Tom Cossar/Wayne Rickards, Paul Whitelam/Richard Webb who won this title in 2017 & 2019 look to make it a hattrick by pairing with Matt Fumarola/Andi Wilson who won in 2017.
