ACU Michelin British Enduro Championship 2021 – Rounds 1 & 2

After a 12 month break from the sport due to the Coronavirus pandemic the BEC is set to return this weekend in Helmsley, hosted by ACU Promotors Dirt Bike Action.

The Putoline Yorkshire Enduro has been welcomed back with a strong entry field of riders, many returning for another year of battle, class changes, bike changes and new faces to the sport. With Dirt Bike Action setting the course and the Fast Eddy Racing Team helping with the special tests, this weekend will be a challenging opener for all.

The Championship class sees the return of Dan Mundell, not only returning from injury, a change of bike onboard a Honda 250F and hungry to take his maiden title. He will have his work cut out with the return of Josh Gotts who took the win at last year’s opener before the season came to a holt. That’s not to mention Alex Walton who has also made a change to Sherco. The class also welcomes Harry Edmondson and Charlie Chater who showed their capabilities in the Experts. With returning names such as Tom Sagar, David Knight and wildcard entry Billy Bolt all very mature and wise riders that have proved their dedication to the sport of Enduro.

With the Expert class making up a large percentage of the entry, there are a number of returning riders one of which is current FIM Ladies World Enduro GP champion Jane Daniels, she is also joined in the class by fellow female Rosie Rowett who made the transition to Experts at the start of last year. This event sees the largest ladies entry that the BEC has had for a number of years with 9 ladies set to compete. Young guns Alfie Webb, Jack Ditchfield, Jac George and James Palmer set to prove their pace with Expert regulars Richard Ely, Ben Murphy, Harry Hillier-Rees and many more showing the way and using their wealth of experience to gain valuable points.

With a strong line up across all the classes, it really could be anyone’s event.

Any rider wishing to score points for the 2021 British Enduro Championship is reminded to register for points via the ACU online entry system, riders that registered for the 2020 season will automatically have their registration carried over.

Link timing links will be posted on the facebook page so be sure to keep up to date with the weekends action.
