ACU Southern Centre Trials Championship 2021

2020 was a tough year for all, and 2021 has not started any easier for Motorcycle sport, however now that there are plans for Covid restrictions to be eased the Southern Centre Clubs are optimistic that 2021 will be kinder to our sport and are committed to run a successful Centre Trials Championship

The Championship for 2021 will be held over 9 rounds, including two rounds for Rigid, Pre-65 & Twin Shock machines.

With four months activity lost it will be a busy shortened year, with August and September being especially hectic, however in these exceptional times most riders accept that “normal” is no longer in the plan and are happy to get riding at every opportunity.

We are all mindful that further Covid related disruption is still a major threat, with this in mind all Trials will be held in compliance with the “then current” ACU and Government guidelines.

01 August 2021 Alton & District MCC The Selborne Solo

29 August 2021 Waltham Chase MCC The Geoff Chandler

04 September 2021 Isle of Wight MCC IOW Two Day Trial

05 September 2021 Isle of Wight MCC IOW Two Day Trial

12 September 2021 Bridport &Weymouth The West Trophy Trial

26 September 2021 Farnham &District MCC Phil Mellers Pre 65 and TS

07 November 2021 Ringwood MC & LCC The Perce Simon

Clubs will publish event venues in the Supplementary Regs on the ACU Website, TMX, The Sporting Motorcyclist, on their own Club Websites and on The Southern Trials Riders Facebook page.

Classification for the 2021 Championship is:

Expert – “Solo Star” Award (A Route)

Clubman Expert - (50/50 A & B Routes)

Clubman (B Route)

Veteran - Over 50 (C Route)

Sportsman - Under 50 (C Route)

Novice – Adult D Route

Pre-65(C Route) “The George Allan”                                    

Twin Shock (C Route)

Youth A               

Youth B               

Youth C

Entry for all rounds is through the ACU on-line system. There is no “on the day” entry.

Riders are encouraged to enter events as soon as “Regs” are released to guarantee entry to a trial, as there are likely to be entry number restrictions.

Clubs may include other classes in Centre Championship Trials for those riders who are not competing in the Championship, subject to entry capacity, however entry priority will be given to “Championship” class riders whenever possible.

Clubs will confirm route marking information, a section map, and all “final instructions” prior to the start of each Trial.

Awards will be presented for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in each class. (Subject to minimum entries in the class)

For each round point’s will be awarded as follows:

Best performance 20 points, then 17,15,13,11,10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 for 15th place in each class.

Only the first 15 finishers in each class shall be awarded points.          

The minimum number of events to count in the series for each competitor will be the total number of events in the series less three.

RuleTSR22A, “Stop Permitted”, will be used at all the main Centre Rounds.

Non-Stop, TSR22B rules may be applied at the two Pre65 and Twin-shock rounds, at the discretion of the organising Clubs.

 

Award winners and partners will be invited as complimentary guest of “The ACU Southern Centre” to an annual Awards Presentation in early 2022, to receive their awards.

Clubs will aim to run Championship Rounds with 3 laps of 15 sections, subject to the availability of Observers and the land available.

All riders taking part in the Championship are asked to provide an Observer or observe at one round of the series.

The Championship results table will be updated after each event and published in the Sporting Motorcyclist and posted on The Southern Trials Riders Facebook page.

Youth A, B and C class riders are especially encouraged to take part in the series, however due to the nature of some of the venues used for Centre Rounds there will be no Youth “D” or “E” Championship Classes.

However, younger riders are not forgotten in the Centre and are being catered for by the Waterside Club who are running their four round “Oset Cup” Series. Whilst not included in the Centre Championship it gives the youngsters a chance to compete in a competitive Championship. The first round of the series is scheduled for Saturday 17th April.
