Sudbury MCC Extreme Enduro Youth Event Report
The Sudbury Motorcycle Club launched their 2020 Dave Roper 374 youth training programme in December with a great days training with Dave Ropers son’s, experts Jamie & Stevie Roper They took the youngsters round some of the extreme obstacles at the popular venue of Foxborough Quarry with the kind permission of Mr Bill Turtle.

2020 Invited riders are Archie Gunton, Barnaby Knight, Max Day, Evan Herbert, Jemma Sargant, Adam Botting, Georgia Potter (150  Freya Jolly (15) Morgan Plaskett (15) Archie Peters (15) William Belton (15) All bar one of the youth riders reside in Colchester or around Sudbury and are committed to wearing the Team Shirts & ride in as many of the Eastern centre championship Solo rounds as possible with a challenge to be top of their Team 374 Championships as well, the season starts on the 23rd February with a race at Santon, Thetford Forest for the older riders.

The youth started their campaign early and after the gruelling 2 hour Adult Extreme Enduro race at Foxborough recently the youths completed an hours race over a shortened course following a short run to their stationary bikes which needed a kick start before the race began. With less brutal obstacles but no less tactically testing and challenging the conditions were wet muddy and very slippery with a lengthy deep flooded section Freya Jolly took the lead after a great sprint to the start but couldn’t quite keep up the pace as the track with its steep sloping camber and deep ruts took out a few casualties on the first lap, Will Belton skimmed over the ruts and continually lapped the less experienced riders finally finishing on 22 laps with William turtle a very respectable 2nd place on 19 laps  Micheal Wilson kept up a good pace in the conditions recording 15 laps to take up the last podium position for the prize giving bringing a great days racing to a close.  It looks to be an exciting year for them all and a great opportunity to progress up to the adult ranks.
