Long Term Southern 100 Flag Marshal Dies
Southern 100 Racing has learnt of the sad passing of one of its longterm Flag Marshals, Eric Alexander.

Eric hung-up his well-used flags after the 2016 races having been an official Flag Marshal for nearly 60 years, most latterly towards the end of the Castletown By-pass on the entrance to the Paddock road.

On Championship Day 2017, Eric was presented with a Certificate of Long Service Award by Chief Marshal, Peter Chadwick and taken for a lap of the course in the Mylchreests Roads Inspection Car before enjoying a buffet lunch in the Race Control Hospitality, an experience he recalled with fondness whenever the friendly races came into a conversation.

Whist Eric might have retired from official duties he would still attend the three road races and watch the races and enjoy the unique atmosphere that surrounds the Billown Course.

All involved with racing around the ‘Southern 100’ course will have fond memories of a dedicated official and with Southern 100 Racing convey their condolences to Eric’s family and friends at this sad time.
