ACU Wessex Plant Hire British Sidecar Championship - Nine down and two to go
The ACU Wessex Plant British Sidecar Championship is at boiling point now in all four classes. The West of England Motor Club bring down the curtain on the championship on Saturday and Sunday in West of England Motor Club's Andy Cheeseman Trial.

The two-day off-road mile lap will test all classes especially under the prevailing weather conditions. Parker's Farm at Ashburton, Devon hosts the sidecar final and the seventh trial in the Normandale championship series.

In the expert ranks both Josh and Luke Golding have notched victories as have John Tuck, with Matt Sparkes and Izzy Saunders in the hot seat. The score line after a drop score has Tuck and Sparkes on 154. Whether Josh Golding enters is another question as the entry date is Tuesday morning. The Golding nett score is 139 so the bottom line is Tuck and Sparkes just have to finish.

In the Intermediate class Manx crew Jack Corlett and Beth Thomas hold the ace card on a maximum one hundred and twenty points. Robbie Head and Aaron Jacobs are consistent scores with four second places and a Ray Thomas opener of seventeen points.

The Clubman class is not healthy. Manx crew John Corlett & Harry Gell have won three trials but ironically were down in fifth place at the opening Ray Thomas back in March. Jamie Howe was in the hot seat for the brace of Manx events. Corlett and Harry Gell will have to accept that Jake Pope and Harriett Shore are only a nett 20 championships points behind the Manx duo. Paul Fishlock and Sam Atherton on nett scores are a mere 18 points behind the Manx crew.

Newcomers Neil and Mark Franks are on a roll with a 22 nett point advantage over rivals Richard and Miles Gilham who are a known quantity now with five victories in the last five events. The Gilhams only entered the class in the Tuck Cross trial last May. Michael Shipley and Robert Wilson have a brace of class victories each. The battle for points is on now! The drop scores could change the picture completely.
