Round 5 of the European Finals at Santa Pod Raceway

Tuesday September 3, 2019 at 1:17pm
The final round of the 2019 European FIM Championships take place on September 5-8th at the European Finals at Santa Pod Raceway.  All of the classes are still to be decided coming into this event.

Top Fuel Bike.

Defending Champion Filippos Papafilippou is championship points leader and is 29 points ahead of Rikard Gustafsson and they are the only riders who can win the championship.  Thomas Pettersson is third 60 points clear of Glenn Borg.    If any of the top four have problems riders like Steve Woollatt, Stuart Crane and Dale Leeks have reached the final of this event in the past.  Reigning ACU Funny Bike Champion Lorcan Parnell makes his first appearance of 2019.  There is also a debut for Al Smith riding Phil Baimbridge three cylinder powered Top Fuel Bike.

SuperTwins.

Reigning Champion Marcus Christiansen has to qualify for the eliminations to retain the championship.  If he fails to qualify Gert-Jan Laseur has to claim maximum points to win the championship. Former champion Martijn De Haas is improving at every event with his new bike and will be looking for a win.  Neil Midgley and Allan Davies will fly the flag for the Brits.

Pro Stock Bike.

Fredrik Fredlund has a ten point advantage over Janne Koskinen coming into this event. Reigning champion Bertrand Maurice is a further seventy one points a drift.  Len Paget was runner up in the last round at Hockenheim and Martin Bishop reached the final here at the Main Event.  Last years European Final winner Martin Newbury ran personal best figures at Hockenheim and could be the rider who could decide which way the title will go.

Super Street bike.

The championship is between Steve Venables 342 points and Alex Hope 306 points.  Mathematically Stephen Mead, Mogens Lund, Graham Balchin and Garry Bowe have a chance to finish in third place.
