Serious Sand Fun at Fatcat Motoparc This Weekend for British Youth Championship Riders
The FatCat MotoParc round of the Judd KTM ACU British Youth Motocross Championship is coming up this weekend (July 6/7), and it’s expected to be an incredible event at a challenging yet important venue for Britain’s best young guns.

Marking the halfway point of the six round British Youth Championship, FatCat MotoParc is a sand circuit in Armthorpe close to Doncaster, which annually plays host to major events such as the ACU Maxxis British Motocross Championship. Its technical layout and sandy terrain usually creates plenty of lines for great racing and the track is complemented with good viewing areas for spectators. Not only that, the event will be covered by a Live Feed supplied by series’ promoter RHL Activities with media partner MX VICE throughout the entire weekend; a fantastic opportunity for the Judd KTM British Youth Championship riders to be seen further afield.

Heading into the the FatCat round Robbie Daly (Auto), Reece Jones (65cc), Finley Evans (85SW), Sam Atkinson (85BW), Preston Williams (125cc) and Dominic Lancett (Open) are the class leaders, but with many motos until the end of the championship, it will be an important weekend in which riders need to battle hard to maintain their position in the series’ standings. Two of the weekend’s motos will be sponsored by Fox for the fastest laptime, which is a welcome addition to the huge Judd KTM British Youth Championship prize pool with the SCOTT Holeshot championship and the 24MX spot prizes in addition to the regular classes and the British Rookie Championship.

It’s been four years since the FatCat Motoparc circuit was featured on the calendar (in 2015) for the official ACU British youth Championship. While many of the riders competing in the series at the time have moved up to the adult ranks, the likes of Charlie Heyman, who currently is second in the Big Wheel 85cc championship, and Ollie Colmer enjoyed previously strong results at this track, albeit on smaller machines. With dry weather forecast into and during the weekend, it looks set to be an exceptional event for the youth racers at one of Britain’s best venues.

Gareth Hockey, Director of RHL Activities.

“FatCat Motoparc is a special race that can always throw up some surprises. It’s challenging, and that’s just the nature of the surface there that of course will depend largely on how it has been prepared. The forecast is good, which will be a relief for riders going into the weekend, but the championships are very close, so there’s everything to play for at this halfway point and nobody can take it easy. We’re proud to be enjoying a positive series with all of our partners and to welcome Fox for this weekend, who will sponsor two of the motos. In addition, the live feed is something really special. We tested it out at the previous round, but the feedback was so good we knew we needed to try and bring it here too. It’s a track that will be hopefully easier to cover in that respect, so we’re really excited about improving the feed and to give more exposure and more experience of being live to our riders. We can’t wait for the weekend now.”
