2019 SMC Championships Rd.1 with NGR and Eastern EVO series
The 2019 SMC Championships finally got underway at the picturesque hillside Badby circuit hosted by NMCC. As well as the normal big SMC entry the club were joined by both the NGR and Easter EVO series on this occasion. Track preparation was excellent and the dust kept at bay despite the hot dry conditions.

In the Expert Class Kristian Hutchings began the day coming from way back on the first lap of race one to finish seventh. In race two he stopped for fresh goggles but still managed to catch the leaders for the win. Victory in race three clinched the overall win by a single point from current SMC Champion Paul Burn.  Glen Bixby took third with three top three finishes just ahead of Simon Wyse. Tim Soane made a great start to the season in the Junior A class with wins in both finals. Justin Carter took second place both times out on the big new Kawasaki. Callum McClurg finished third overall by a single point from Luke Nolan. Aaron Read won both Junior B finals from Jacob Wills in second and Richard Mitchell in third.

In the NGR class Aaron Hopkins and Liam Walker shared wins. Liam won the first but Aaron took the overall after wins in races two and three. John Hinz took third overall ahead of William Kerry. The Eastern EVO class saw a fantastic turnout of pristine retro machinery as the track rang out to the sound of 2 strokes.  After finishing second to Paul Edge in race one, Brett Fisher went on to win both the other legs for first overall. Second in both of these gave Brad Tomlin second overall, closely followed by Paul Edge. In the O40 class Simon Wyse was once again overall winner after taking victory in race two and three. Race one winner Ryan Griffiths crashed out of the final encounter. Tony Fricker took a great second overall from Rupert Fairclough.

Fraser Law won the O50 class with two wins from Greg Cox and a hard charging Bruce Garside. John Smith took a hat-trick of wins in the O60s, Nigel Miller having to settle for second on this occasion. Andy Sturt finished third overall from Robert Mott, as the O60 class continues to grow. Alexander Churchill won the overall in both of the combined 2 Stroke and U40 classes. Aaron Read finished runner up overall in the U40s from Aaron Smith. Garry West took second in the 2 Strokes, from Ian Tindle.

The next round for NMCC will be at Long Buckby on May 12th.
