New Look for ACU Keedwell TrialGB British Championship in 2019
After several weeks of discussions the ACU Trials and Enduro Committee have engaged with Brian Higgins to become the Manager for the new look ACU Keedwell TrialGB British Championship series. The aim of the project will be to ensure consistency in all of the rounds and to lift the profile of the series which Higgins achieved, with colleagues, when he first took over the Maxxis ACU MX Championship ten years ago.

Commenting on his new role, Brian Higgins, who will work with a small team commented, “Britain currently has a strong contingent of exceptional riders, both up and coming and experienced. We aim to give them a championship with a slightly more professional approach whilst ensuring that our organisers, who are invaluable to the series, remain in control of their events. However, working with them, we hope to be able to give some guidance and support as required”.

The Trials and Enduro Committee are already engaging with current organisers and they will be contacted in the coming weeks to establish a dialogue and assure them of their important position.

Higgins continued, “With modern technology there are always improvements which can be made and we are already talking to important sponsors to gauge their key needs with regards to exposure in various media channels. With my past Trials background I am looking forward to forming a small team to work on this project and make the transition as smooth as possible”.

A new dedicated Championship website is currently being constructed which will feature all event and rider updates together with images and reports from each event. This will hold the domain name ACU TRIALGB

Higgins also intends to re-build a stronger relationship with all UK Importers with the emphasis being put on a working partnership with the Organisers, Riders, Sponsors, Teams, Importers and of course, the ACU.

It is planned to hold a meeting in January where interested parties, but especially 2019 organisers plus Importers will be invited. More details on the format will be released shortly.

ACU Chairman, John Collins was pleased with the initial planning meeting which took place on November 1st saying, “The Trials and Enduro Committee assessed that the British Trials Championship needed to move forward and be uplifted in line with modern expectations and promotion, and we are delighted that Mr Higgins has agreed to manage this task on our behalf. We believe Brian’s experience in past major MX events and recent World Championship Trials will enable him to take a fresh approach and enhance our premier trials series”
