Following careful consideration, the ACU Trials and Enduro Committee have taken the decision not to follow the FIM in making Back or knee Protection compulsory for ACU Trial events in the UK in 2019.
The Trials and Enduro Committee take rider safety extremely seriously but believe there are still some issues to be determined before compulsory wearing of back or knee protectors can be considered.
The committee do, however fully recommend riders to consider their personal safety and circumstances and would encourage anyone choosing to wear back, or indeed any other protection.
The Trials and Enduro Committee will make further research into the issue and will carry out a full review before the possibility of introducing measures from 2020.
Anyone with views, feedback, information or specialist knowledge of the back or knee protection available will be encouraged to contact the Trials and Enduro Committee to enable information to be collated.
