With one of the strongest Teams which they have sent in recent years the American Team of John Dowd, Ivan Tedesco, Doug Dubach and Mike Brown must start as favourites in the tenth edition of the Vets Motocross of Nations which takes place at Farleigh Castle the weekend after next. However, last year Team England beat the stateside visitors fair and square and with the four-man squad consisting of ex world number two Kurt Nicoll, Mark Eastwood, Stephen Sword and “Factory” Phil Mercer who would bet against a repeat performance? The eight team races at the iconic Farleigh Castle circuit will not be down to just two teams as Denmark, led by Soren Mortensen, Northern Ireland, headed by ex GP winner Gordon Crockard, Canada, Austria, Luxembourg, Wales and Scotland with Billy Mackenzie in their squad cannot be dismissed. Germany, who won the Twinshock contest in 2015 are sending a competitive squad whilst Belgium are so strong that GP Star Ken De Dycker cannot find a team place. In addition to the main team races focus will also centre on the eight supporting classes which make up the twenty race programme each day which is packed with stars from the past. Farleigh Castle is situated on the Somerset Wiltshire border within easy distance of the M4 corridor and the action starts at 9am on Saturday 8th September with the qualifying sessions whilst the following day consists of twenty action packed races plus the lunchtime Parade of Legends which will include the star which Dave King has been chasing for several years, Ricky Johnston. Gates open for general public at noon on Thursday 6th September for camping at £30 per pitch with live bands on site on Friday and Saturday evenings.
