Motocross Committee Hearing – Saturday 11th August
A Motocross Committee Hearing took place on Saturday 11th August to investigate the circumstances surrounding an incident which took place at a Motocross event organised by the GEST Club held on Sunday 8th July.

It was alleged that the parent of an ACU licenced youth competitor assaulted the Clerk of the Course which resulted in the Clerk of the Course being taken to hospital because of the injuries he sustained.  This consequently meant the remainder of the meeting had to be cancelled as there was no senior Official to run the event.

Following correspondence from the Gest Club who asked for a degree of leniency to be shown towards the youth competitors, the Motocross Committee decided that the father of the competitor be banned from attending any ACU permitted event in any guise (ie. as a competitor, parent/legal guardian, spectator) for a period of five years commencing 9th July 2018.  The ACU licenced youth competitor be suspended from all ACU permitted activity (including competition / track days / test days) for a period of three years commencing from 9th July 2018, however 2 years and 6 months of the said suspension is suspended.  To clarify this, the competitors licence is withdrawn until 8th January 2019, whereupon it will be reinstated on a probationary basis and should there be any further breach of the ACU National Sporting Code including but not limited to any action deemed to be in breach of the code by the rider or a member of his entourage to any other Rider, an Official or a member of the public at any motorcycle sport event or to any person connected with the sport outside of an ACU event, then the full period of suspension (three years) is put in place with immediate effect.  A fine of £500.00 was also imposed.
