ACU Wessex Plant Hire British Trials Sidecar Championship Summary to date

Thursday August 23, 2018 at 9:47am
With eight championship events gone and just three to run the ACU Wessex Plant Hire British Trials Sidecar Championship is heading for a cliff hanger finale. Mathematics are already in play! All competitors, in all four classes, will drop their lowest score.

After the Ray Denyer Trial on August 14 in Kent, Yate brothers Josh and Luke Golding have an eleven-point lead over current champions Jon Tuck and Matt Sparkes, also Yate contenders. Ahead are a potential sixty championship points, less the single drop score ruling. Manx crew Oliver Lace and either Ealish Baxter or Gareth Temple could bridge the nineteen-point gap to the Goldings but that is a tall order as Tuck and Golding missed the Doncaster Cup way back in March due to the weather, so their drop score is implemented.

Nigel Scott and daughter Gracie –Mae head the strong Inter class on 149 or 134 if the drop score is brought in. The threat will come from Tony Jones and Jamie Howe or Dave Tuck and Joe Newman who also have dropped multiple scores so have it all to play for. Fourth placed at Bond and Aleyn Taggart missed the Denyer last Sunday so that crew enter the equation.

The Clubman class is three horse race. No disrespect intended but three crews have amassed a total of 377 gross points and two of them, Jack and John Corlett with passengers Beth Thomas and Harry Gell happen to be Manx challengers and that leaves Paul Fishlock And Debbie Merrell to defend the mainland. John Corlett missed the D.K Mansell trial so his drop score is also done.

As far as the Newcomers category is concerned Elliott and Graham Tickner have just to ride the final three events. The class is a done deal! The Mel Harrison Trial is three weeks away in North Yorkshire at the popular Kingstone Farm venue at Fellbeck. The regulations are out now.
