Local Stars on Top Form as Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship Heads for Blaxhall
Sunday 6th May will see the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship supported by Pro Clean head to the Blaxhall Circuit in Suffolk, hosted by the Woodbridge and DMCC. The event features a bumper line up with 160 of the country’s best riders competing across four championship classes, giving fans a great day of racing when it all kicks off on track.

With local stars in top form it is sure to be an exciting day as Ipswich based Jake Nicholls heads to Blaxhall on a roll. Club member and Buildbase Honda rider Nicholls arrives at his home circuit on the back of taking a double victory at the previous round last weekend and taking over the championship lead.

Fellow local star Elliott Banks-Browne is also in good form after taking a podium result alongside Nicholls. Banks-Browne from Bury St Edmunds will be looking to put right the demons of last year where he crashed out of the event after setting the fastest lap in qualifying.

Nicholls and Banks-Browne will both have their work cut out to stay ahead of the chasing pack which includes Russian Evgeny Bobryshev and reigning champion Graeme Irwin who will both be looking to take race wins and the championship advantage leaving Blaxhall.

Other local riders to look out for include last year’s podium finisher Ryan Houghton and Shaun Southgate who claimed the Expert MX1 victory at the previous round, while youngster George Grigg-Pettitt will be looking for two strong rides.

In the MX2 class Bury St Edmunds based Lewis Tombs will be hoping to repeat his performances of last year and make it onto the podium this time round, but he will need to be in good form to beat series leader Conrad Mewse. Mewse has taken victory in all 4 motos this season and currently leads Mel Pocock in second and Josh Gilbert in third.

Blaxhall also features the third round of the British 2 Stroke championship where Dutchman Mike Kras leads the series ahead of Ashley Wilde, while last year’s winner James Dunn is in good form and chasing race wins.

The final class competing at Blaxhall is the opening round of the Maxxis MXY2 Championship where the leading youth riders will all be battling for the early season advantage.

The Blaxhall Circuit near Woodbridge is signposted off the A12 using the postcode IP17 1LG. Admission prices are £20 for adults and £5 for children aged 5-15 with a family ticket £45. Practice starts at 8:45am with the first race of the day at 11.00am.
