George Elevated to Chairman of Southern 100 Racing
At the March Director’s Meeting of Southern 100 Racing long-time Club & Race Secretary, George Peach was unanimously voted as Chairman of the organisation.

George was presented with his chain of office by retiring Chairman and President Phil Taubman MBE before chairing his first of very many monthly and other meetings.

George Peach becomes the sixth Chairman of the ‘friendly races’ since the event was first run in 1955.

George Peach joined the Committee of the Southern 100 in 1982, twelve months after the club had taken over the running of the ‘friendly races’ from the Southern Motorcycle Club.

On joining the committee, he also took on the role of Deputy Chief Club Marshal and continued in the position until 1989 when he took over as Club and Race Secretary, a position he held up to his election to Chairman.

George will continue as Race Secretary for the three road race meetings the club organises annually on the Colas Billown Course, the Blackford’s Pre-TT Classic Road Races; the Radcliffe’s Post TT Road Races and the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Southern 100 International Road Races.

After being elected to the position of Chairman, George said: ‘I have some big boots to follow in Phil Taubman and the late Derek Nicholson and I will attempt to keep up the standards set by both.’

Other officials elected for the year were Treasurer, Richard Haddock and Rachel Palmer as Club Secretary.
