New Sponsor Revealed for Southern 100 Solo Championship Race
Southern 100 Racing are pleased to confirm that Hunt’s Motorcycles will take over the role of Race Headline Sponsor for the Southern 100 Solo Championship Race.

The 500cc Race and subsequently the Solo Championship race has been the feature race of the Southern 10 Road Races since the event was first run in 1955, when Liverpudlian Terry Shepherd riding a Norton won the 24-lap race, exactly 100 miles, (hence the title of the races) at a speed of 78.260mph, with a fastest lap of 80.950mph. Last year, 2017 Dean Harrison, Kawasaki mounted won his first Solo Championship at an average speed of 113.887mph with a new absolute lap record being set by Michael Dunlop (Suzuki) at 115.707mph.

Race Secretary, George Peach said; ‘Southern 100 Racing is most grateful to John Brown and his company, Hunt’s Motorcycles for taking on the sponsorship of our feature solo race, the Championship.

‘The history of the race over the past 63 years speaks for itself with the riders taking part, the extremely close racing and Hunt’s involvement can only further enhance the feature race.’
