RHL Activities contract extended for British Youth Nationals with ACU
RHL Activities are pleased to announce that following a recent meeting with the Auto Cycle Union, which took place in their offices in Rugby, the contract for RHL Activities to run the British Youth National Championship on behalf of the ACU has been renewed for a further three years which will see RHL Activities go to a ten year anniversary.
RHL Activities took over the running and promotion of the ACU British Youth Nationals back in 2012, the championship has grown year on year with the best junior riders in the UK battling it out for victory in the respective championship classes. The series continues to be the stepping-stone to World & European Championships at youth level, whilst also preparing riders for the Maxxis British Motocross Championship.
The team are busy planning for 2018 and with the return of the Under 18 and 21 official ACU British Championships it’s looking to be another great year for the series.
Steve McCauley, ACU Motocross Committee Chairman commented, “On behalf of myself, the motocross committee and ACU Ltd. We are delighted to say that after successful talks we have agreed a further three year agreement with RHL for the British Youth Nationals Championship. RHL have ran the series now on our behalf for seven years next season and this extension will take it to a very successful ten year anniversary. From a gentle start the series has grown in strength and stature and now visits many of the countries top circuits. RHL are very proactive with riders and parents and the series improvements are often as direct feedback from all involved parties. We have some tremendously talented riders within our youth ranks and results at the recent World Juniors reflect this. Hopefully for 2018 we can attract even more young people to compete in the British Youth Championship.
We are also very excited to bring back the British under 21 series, and granting this to RHL to incorporate into their series; this follows on nicely from allowing 13 year olds the chance to compete on full size 125 two stroke machines during 2017, as the UK Government's recognised official motorcycling governing body we are determined to remain extremely pro-active and along with partners such as RHL grab these opportunities to improve all aspects of the sport. We are predicting and indeed observing some shifts in youth racing structure and we are determined to lead by example.
The chequered flag has barely been displayed for the last lap of 2017 but I am already hugely excited and looking forward immensely to the 2018 15 second board.”
Gareth Hockey, Director of RHL Activities commented. “Myself and the RHL team are pleased to be extend the contract we have with the ACU to continue to run and promote the British Youth National Championship in the UK as the only official ACU British Championship for youth riders. It is our aim to grow the series further over the coming three years and continue to be the best youth championship in Europe in 2018 and beyond. I am pleased to be able to bring back the Under 21 Championship with the support of the ACU and work very closely with them to push our sport to the best it can be within the country. We will be in a position in the coming weeks to announce our full plans for next season and I am pleased to bring in some changes which I feel will be beneficial to the future riders of the sport.”
