Monday September 18, 2017 at 2:49pm
The Dave Roper Memorial Event is this coming Sunday 24th September being staged at Tye Farm Great Cornard Suffolk by the Sudbury Motor Cycle Club.  It is eight years since the death of former Chairman Dave Roper and the proceeds on the day goes into a Fund in his name to help and support young and up and coming riders to develop their skills.

This year is a double header first up at 9am a Hare and Hounds Enduro for 12-16 year olds running for one hour.  This event is the third one this year the Sudbury Club has organised and there are a few girls who compete and they do rather well.  Will it be three wins in a row for 14 year old Jake Roper who has lately been beating his Dad.  All these youngsters will be riding at a historic venue where Television meetings have been televised nationally and Local and where World and British Champions have ridden in different disciplines of the Motor Cycle Sport.

Starting at 10.30am is the fourth and final round of the Dave Barkshire Motorcycles Two Man Enduro Championship running for four hours nonstop and in the Championship Class Sam Mitchell/Brendan Mayers secured the 2017 Title at round three.  In second place are Rick and Jamie Roper however this pairing will not be competing as Jamie sustained an injury early May and won’t be fit until the New Year.  In the Expert Class Ben Grice/Kevin Palmer holds a fourteen points lead over Mark Mitchell/Joe Marsh and a twenty points lead over Chris Wright/Dan Willis.  It is very close in the Clubman Class with Will Nice/Ben Marsh on 42 points and Paul & Dan Hunt on 41 points.  Two outsiders are Matt Smith/Marc Norton and Andrew Peek/Mark Grimmer both teams on 26 points.
