Evans’s top Senior and Junior Manx Grand Prix qualifying
Ahead of the fourth qualifying session for the 2017 Manx Grand Prix, Clerk of the Course Gary Thompson advised competitors that for the first time this week roads were completely dry all round the course with no damp patches and good visibility all round the course.

The Senior and Junior machines were first on the track and the session got away promptly at 6.20pm.

The Evans surname was again at the top of the board for both the Senior and Junior Manx Grand Prix fourth qualifying sessions on the Isle of Man this evening but it was Brynefall’s Barry Lee Evans who topped the Senior board while Isle of Man namesake Michael, who has dominated the Senior class to date, took over at the top of the Junior board.

Michael Evans’s 119.228 in the Junior class was the fastest Manx Grand Prix time of the week and he also posted swapped to his Martin Bullock Motorsport Suzuki GSZR 750 machine and posted a 116.390 in the Senior class, the second fastest Senior exclusive time on the night.

A number of Junior and Senior linked competitors posted their fastest times of the week with Tom Robinson and Dean Osborne both posting 118mph plus laps – 118.938 and 118.837 respectively with less than a second separating the top three on the night.

In the Lightweight class Spain’s Victor Lopes Santos (111.91) was the fastest from 1993 Formula 1 TT Race winner Nick Jeffferies (111.47) and Darren Cooper and Gary Vines who both stopped the watch at an identical 111.27.

With the newcomers now integrated into the overall field, Newcomer A Darryl Field recorded his fastest lap of the week to date with 115.09 while in the Newcomer B class moved further ahead on the overall leaderboard with 104.72 with Derek Wilson also recording a 100mph lap (100.29).
