ACU/F.S.R.A. British F2 Sidecar Championship Heads to Anglesey on the 29th and 30th July

Wednesday July 19, 2017 at 4:43pm
With the fourth round of the ACU/FSRA British Formula two sidecar championship hosted once again with the Wirral 100 club at the coastal circuit Trac Mon on Anglesey on Saturday/Sunday 29/30 July. This will be the tenth consecutive year that the FSRA have visited Anglesey.

In the last two years the weather has played a major factor with one day being blisteringly hot and the next day torrential rain so let’s hope the weather gods play fair this weekend. After a thirteen week break its back to the short circuit program as a few of the teams entered Scarborough, the Isle of Man TT and the Southern 100 road races. Leading the Super F2 Cup are the current champions Peter Founds and Jevan Walmsley with a thirty-eight point gap to two pairings tied on ninety five points father and son Steve and Matty Ramsden who qualified on pole here last season, and having their best season to date, the Lowther brothers John and Jake.

In the F2 cup leading the way are newcomers to the championship this season Brian Ilaria and Jody James with a twelve  point lead over second place Manx pairing of Michael Jackson and Callum Crowe, who in turn are five point clear of third place Ralph Remnant and Samantha Tilley.

The races at Anglesey over twenty laps will be something new for a lot of the newcomers to the championship having not raced thismany laps at a meeting before.

To distinguish between the Super F2 Cup and F2 cup runners, the Super F2 run with a white number on a red background and the F2 Cup runners run with a yellow number on a red background.

Hot off the press there will be a tribute lap for the late Roy Hawkins on Saturday immediately prior to the British F2 qualifying at 2pm .

There will be live timing for this event online with TSL timing.

The current FSRA Super F2 lap record for this circuit is currently 1:12.668 set back in July 2010 by Simon Neary and Dipash Chauhan. Both Founds/Walmsley and the Ramsdens set their quickest times last year with 1:13.1 so they will be looking to improve on this time.

The F2 Cup lap record currently stands at 1:14.091 by Dave Atkinson and Phil Knapton set in may of 2011.

Good luck to all the teams as it will be a busy couple of weeks with the fifth round at Cadwell Park the weekend after.
