Brits Keep up Their Challenge in World Sidecarcross Championships
After an absence of three years the World Sidecarcross series returned to Chernivtsi in the Ukraine for Round 2 of the 2017 championship. As had been the case in previous years the number of teams in attendance was low, just 23 in fact, so the qualifying race on Saturday was only needed to determine start positions for Sunday’s two motos. The two British crews, Brown / Millard & Wilkinson / D.Chamberlain, qualified in fourth and tenth places respectively.

The first race was led from beginning to end by Willemsen / Bax. Brown was third on lap one but was soon up to second place which he held until the very last lap when Giraud / Mucenieks got past. Wilkinson came home in ninth.

In the second lag Willemsen led initially but was soon passed by Bax / Musset who went on to take the win. Wilkinson worked his way up to second place early on but was overtaken by Giraud, Willemsen and Brown and finished fifth just behind Brown.

After two rounds Bax leads the series with Brown in third place and Wilkinson in seventh. The next round is next weekend in Kramolin, CZ Republic.
