Round 2 of the ACU/FSRA British F2 Sidecar Championship Heads to Cadwell Park

Round two of the ACU/FSRA British Formula 2 Sidecar Championship hosted by the Auto 66 Club takes place this Easter Bank Holiday weekend at Cadwell Park. This venue is a favourite amongst the sidecar teams and this will be the first of three visits to the Lincolnshire circuit this season.

The front runners to look out for this weekend will be double winners from the first round last weekend at Oulton Park, number seventy two, the reigning ACU/FSRA champions Peter Founds and local passenger Jevan Walmsley. Last season's championship runners up and Auto 66 regulars, who having secured the Mac Hobson trophy for the third consecutive year at Croft a few weeks ago, are the pairing of Lee Crawford and Patrick Farrance (Team ARC), and will be seeking a big points haul. The duo secured a second place finish in race one but unfortunately had to retire in race two. Also keep an eye out for the father and son pairings of Steve & Matty Ramsden and Gary & Daryl Gibson who featured strongly last weekend.

There was a close battle in race one at Oulton between Conrad Harrison & Andy Winkle (Printer Roller Services) and the second team sporting ARC colours - John and Jake Lowther - in which the former crossed the line 0.145s in front of the latter, so hopefully the racing between these teams will be just as frantic at Cadwell! Add to the mix the experienced Sean Hegarty who hopefully will have a stand in passenger after James Neave came out in testing last week at Oulton Park (mend fast James).

On to the F2 Cup class, this is a championship held within the full championship and you will notice that those competing in this class have yellow numbers as opposed to the white numbers run by the Super F2 cup teams. Taking a double win last week were Nicky Dukes & William Moralee (Dynobike) followed by two debutants in this year’s championship namely Brian Ilaria & Jody James (Team Powerhouse) and Ralph Remnant and Samantha Tilley. With fifteen registered F2 cup runners this season and if Oulton Park was anything to go by then there will be teams battling all the way through the field.

The first race on Sunday will have an extra incentive for all teams as long-time supporter of sidecars Mr Bill Barrowcliff will be awarding his magnificent trophies for the best performance and also the fastest lap. Many thanks once again Bill.

The ACU/FSRA lap record for Oulton Park was broken last weekend by Founds/Walmsley so providing the weather is kind the lap record for Cadwell Park set in May by Neary/Knapton at 1:37.32 could be under threat.
