It’s good to be BEC!
The eagerly awaited new enduro season is quickly approaching, here is a brief rundown of what this seasons ACU British Timecard Enduro Championship has in store for us.

With current British Champion Steve Holcombe only riding selected British rounds this year and 2015 Champion Jamie McCanney not competing in the series, it leaves the door open to a healthy selection of World and European class riders here in the UK. Who will be taking the well sought after British Enduro crown this season?

Will it be newly crowned Youth Enduro Champion Jack Edmondson, back to form Manxman Danny McCanney, current European Enduro Champion Brad Freeman, the flying Welshman Jamie Lewis or former champions Tom Sagar and David Knight.

Also hoping to get in the mix will be ever improving youngsters Josh Gotts, Lee Sealey and newly promoted Expert riders Tom Ellwood and Dan Mundell, along with championship regulars Fraser Flockhart, James Dent, Jacob Subacus, Charlie Evans and Frazer Norrie to name but a few.

Plus don’t forget the championship will be as tight and competitive in all the other classes including Expert, Clubman, Over 40’s, Over 50’s and Ladies.

It all adds up to 2017 being a very exciting year!

Events:

Lossiemouth Enduro – kicking off the series in Scotland in fine style will be this very popular event well worthy for a BEC opener. Lossiemouth seems to have its own sunny sub climate, coupled with a very scenic special test that runs along a beach, where else in the UK treats you to this. The event starts in Lossiemouth forest which also hosts this infamous special test with a mix of soft sand rides over dunes along with tight twisty forest sections making it a very breath-taking test.  A longer lap and an extra special test are planned this year using the nearby Birkenhill wood which will be link up using public roads.

Yorkshire Enduro – Clerk of the Course John Kerwin has drafted in the experience of Paul Edmondson and his Fast Eddy Crew to set up 2 new special tests and to get the event back to its best. The route is undergoing a full revision and riders at this year’s event will find a less technical course with slacker check times, with use of more forestry roads making up a lap of approximately 25 miles.

Hafren Enduro – a true traditional enduro based in the heart of Mid-Wales. A fantastic start location at Llanidloes Rugby club, an ALL NEW route this year using the Hafren Forest, plus the experience of Hafren club members will make this another truly top class event. The club has a 30 mile lap planned with a grass cross type test at the start/finish area and a more technical enduro test within the Hafren Forest.

REME Enduro – a brand new venue for this year, moving away from its original home in Hampshire to Gretna Green in Scotland. Not much information is available at the time of going to press, but without doubt the team REME crew will put on another very well run and enjoyable event.

Muntjac Enduro – with the final round heading over to the Thetford forest in Norfolk, this is always a top class organised event by the Diss club. A short, sharp and demanding lap is set out, weaving its way in and out of the sandy forest bringing the series to a very fitting finale.
