The ACU British Extreme Enduro Championship 2017
British Extreme Enduro will come of age in 2017 with a series of events at five of the wildest venues in the UK beginning on January 15th at Tong near Bradford.

The Parkwood Off-road venue is the cornerstone of the series, it is long-established and will be providing spectacular racing as a taste of things to come throughout the whole series.

Tong has witnessed truly magnificent achievements over the years, top of which is the six wins by David Knight who made the venue his own and in proper hard enduro fashion, rarely taking the easy option, never coasting to a finish and always pushing to lap the whole field whenever possible. Tong is a beast of a venue and it took a real animal to tame it.

The 2016 event saw a new face in the start line-up. A virtual unknown in Hard Enduro who simply said: ‘Way aye, I’ll give it a try man!’ and proceeded to grab the holeshot ahead of a star-studded line up. It was of course Billy Bolt. He didn’t win but his antics went viral and he has now competed in the planet’s toughest enduro events, a fact that hasn’t gone unnoticed by the powers that be.

Billy now sits as teammate alongside the King of Hard Enduro, Graham Jarvis, in the Factory Husqvarna Extreme line-up and will be looking for the win in mid-January, hopefully retaining the crazy streak that made him so entertaining earlier this year.

The Sportsman and Clubman classes, thankfully in different races, take up a huge percentage of the entry so carnage is guaranteed although these riders typify the essence of extreme enduro with their never-quit attitude, especially with the waterfall now included in the morning race.

Around 200 riders are already signed up and racing begins around 10.00am for the Sportsman, Youth and Veterans with the Pro, Expert and Clubman riders taking off at 1.00pm

It is a waste of time trying to explain the Tong course so the best advice is to be there on January 15th. If you haven’t witnessed Extreme Enduro before then this is the event to get you addicted.

The entry is virtually full but it is fantastic value for spectators at just £10 for adults, £5 for under 16’s and OAP’s and free for under 5’s with free parking for all.
