Woodbridge & DMCC announced as Maxxis Organiser of the Year for 2016

The 2016 Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship supported by Pro Clean featured some of the closest racing in recent years as the Series was hosted by eight different Organisers, all ensuring their preparations for each round were of the highest quality which demonstrates and justifies why the Series is regarded as the one of the premier domestic Motocross championships in Europe.

This season saw all three British Champions being crowned at the final round and all winning by small margins which made the final race day at Foxhill very exciting for the large crowd lucky enough to witness the drama unfold before their eyes.

It then falls on the Series Promoter – ACU Events Ltd to select the Organiser of the Year.  A difficult task given the high standards achieved during 2016 by all eight Organisers, but in the words of the Highlander ……… ‘There can be only one’ ………….

Woodbridge & DMCC who hosted Round Six at their Blaxhall circuit in Suffolk have been awarded the prestigious title of Maxxis Organiser of the Year for 2016.

Woodbridge & DMCC returned to the British Championship calendar in 2015 with a highly successful first event which was enjoyed by riders and fans alike.  The club continued to improve on key areas of the event in readiness for this year and in doing so provided a perfect race circuit and smoothly run event on one of the hottest days of the summer.

Series Manager Stuart Drummond commented by saying, “This year has been a good year for all the Organisers and Promoters and it has been a really tough decision who to select as Organiser Of The Year and as always the standard has been outstanding, but one has to stand out. My congratulations go to the Woodbridge & DMCC.  It's always good to recognise hard work at all levels, well done to everyone involved".

Speaking on behalf of the Woodbridge & DMCC, Debbie Blyth said, “As a club it is a great honour to have been given this award for the 2016 season as it has been something that we have been aiming for since 2014 when we agreed to host the 2015 event. We always pride ourselves on producing the best events that we can for the riders, teams and spectators and over the last two seasons we feel this has been achieved and we will continue to look at making more improvements to enhance peoples experience at the event in 2017.”

Woodbridge & DMCC will receive their award at the Annual ACU Awards & Presentations evening at the National Motorcycle Museum on Saturday 28th January.

The championship returns to Blaxhall next year again as the Club host Round Six on 16th July.
