Sixty Year Hailwood Commemoration At Castle Combe
The West Country’s biggest motorcycle race meeting will once again take place with the Castle Combe Grand National being held at the Wiltshire track on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th July 2017.

In addition to a packed programme of racing organised by NG Road Racing Club, and featuring a number of major championships, as well as the now traditional Classic and Tribute parades, one of the highlights will be the commemoration of 60 years since the legendary Mike Hailwood® made his debut at the circuit back in 1957.

The organisers have been granted special permission by Mike’s widow Pauline to run some of Hailwood’s iconic machinery at the track where the nine-times World Champion and 14-times TT winner rode in only his second ever meeting and already promised, and taking to the track over the weekend, will be many actual race bikes ridden by ‘Mike the Bike’™ including those he raced from Ducati, Honda, BSA, Suzuki and Norton including some of the most famous race bikes ever produced.

Further information on the bikes and the current stars who will ride them will be announced in the near future but the organisers are keen to hear from any owners of ex-Hailwood machines who would like to display or demonstrate bikes at this historic meeting, to please contact Rodney Gooch as detailed below.

Graham Marshallsay, Managing Director of Castle Combe Circuit: “This is a fantastic gesture of the Hailwood family to allow us to commemorate Mike in this way at a track he was always welcomed at. In my view, and in the eyes of many, Mike Hailwood was simply the greatest ever racer and I’m sure in true Castle Combe tradition, we’ll do him proud.”

Pauline Hailwood:
“Thank you to Castle Combe Circuit and the organisers for honouring Mike in this way, it sounds like a great idea.”
