International Six Day Enduro, Navarra, Spain Day Five Report: GB World Trophy Team 2nd, GB World Jun
The ACU British ISDE Teams had a smooth and problem-free penultimate day of the ISDE 2016. The fifth day of racing consisted of just one lap, but with long liaisons between the five tests, it still totalled at 195km. A frosty and misty beginning to the day and just 3c on the thermometer meant a delayed start to proceedings, but it wasn’t long before the Spanish sun returned and the rest of the day was much drier, brighter and warmer than the wet and windy conditions the riders had experienced on Thursday and Friday.

The atmosphere among the team was extremely positive as all the remaining riders felt they had enjoyed a strong a consistent day, with the Trophy riders even climbing up a place in the standings.

After Team Spain and Team Italy both lost riders on Day 5, the British Trophy riders made hay while the sun shone and each put in excellent performances to move into 2nd.

The end of Day 5 also sees 3 out of 4 of the two surviving Junior Team members, Jack Edmondson and Josh Gotts, had to pick themselves up after the loss of their team-mate, Lee Sealey on Day 4. But the youngsters did a perfect job and posted very respectable times throughout the day.

ACU British ISDE Team Manager, Dusty Martin: “I’m really glad to be at this point of the race with all the riders doing such a great job. Once they realised that a couple of the Italian riders were out today they relaxed a bit and settled into a nice smooth pace which seems to have paid off. This year we have a superb team, and not just from a rider point of view, every single person who works for the team has done a stellar job and we wouldn’t be where we are now if it wasn’t for the hard work and commitment of everyone helping us this year. Everyone is so passionate about the sport and they know exactly what needs to be done to keep everything running like clockwork - I can’t thank them enough”

World Trophy - Nathan Watson (9th Overall): “The bike was working really well again today and I had no problems at all, I enjoyed myself out there. I’m really looking forward to tomorrow’s Final Cross, I’ve never ridden on tarmac (the test is dual surface), but I’ll be trying to get my knee down!”

World Trophy - Danny McCanney (6th Overall): “I really loved the Enduro Test today, we used it earlier in the week and I’ve really got the hang out of it. I could’ve Nathan Watson ridden that one all day!”

Junior World Trophy - Josh Gotts (54th Overall): “I had my best day of the event so far, better late than never! I’m really enjoying this Six Days and hope to just stay out of trouble tomorrow and get the job done”
