International Whoppa Grasstrack Thrills, Spills and Competition Time
The thrills and spills of roaring top solo and sidecar competitors return to Wimborne this Sunday for the International Whoppa being held at Merley Hall Farm.

Due to a 500cc Super Series round taking place in Holland, we have lost a few competitors but are grateful to the ones that have supported us this year. Heading the field are European Champions William Matthijssen and Sandra Molema. Josh Goodwin and Liam Brown newly crowned British 500cc Sidecar Champions head the challenge along with locally based outfits Wayne Read and Curtis McAlinney, Mike Read and Mark Hopkins all aiming for top spot on Sunday.

Looking to the Speedway World current Grand Prix rider Cornishman Chris Harris who hails from Truro is one of the hot favourites for this year’s title. His appearance in last year’s Masters was curtailed early due to mechanical issues following a track crash, this year he hopes to put matters right in his all action never give up style that has won him many fans in speedway yet alone grasstrack circles over the years. Next year he has gone on record as saying he is looking for more involvement on the grass while also changing speedway clubs in the UK after a long association at Coventry.

Ben Barker from Truro another speedway star is among the favourites to upset the applecart with James Wright, Richard Hall and Andrew Appleton all certain of being in the mix. Finally Paul Hurry returns to the saddle once again, after suffering terrible injuries throughout his speedway career he is raring to race his bikes and thrill the crowds once again and recent showings are that he is back well on the pace.

The 1000cc sidecars are ready to rip and roar through the afternoon with last year’s Masters winners Colin Blackbourn and Carl Pugh facing tough competition all through the field in a very tough class for anyone to call.

Twenty eight aces are scheduled for the afternoons racing which gets underway with the first race at 1pm following the 11am practice session. Camping is available for the weekend, with a beer tent and music Saturday evening before the solos and sidecars rip up the grass on Sunday.

To win a family ticket follow the club on www.Facebook.com/wimbornemcc and Twitter @WimborneGrass, then like and share and tweet the competition posts that we publish each day this week. The winners will be drawn at random early evening each day and posted on our social media pages.

Entry is £15 (adults) £13, (oap's), under 16's FREE (accompanied) and programmes £2.
