Manx Two Day Trial Report
It was a weekend of success for the Manx riders in the main solo and sidecar classes at this weekend’s Manx National 2-Day Trial.

The solo expert class saw top local rider Barry Kinley take his Beta around the two days for 27 marks and finally capture that elusive win he has been so close to in the past. Admitting his own nerves when on stage to collect his award at the Villa Marina in Douglas, Kinley said that he finally managed to string two good days together and take the coveted replica of the Manx Sword of State. He was only a handful of marks in front of another local, Tom Maddrell at the end of the first day, with Ben Sprigg in third, however Kinley stayed consistent and displayed some wonderful rides to finish with 20 marks in hand.

The sidecar class saw reigning British Champions and fellow Manx men Nigel Crellin/Chris Molyneux take a close victory from William Caine/Beth Thomas by 2 marks, with Daryl Dale/Hannah Etherington only a further 5 behind in third. Trailing the pairing of Dale/Etherington overnight by 2 marks, the Knight Scorpa mounted duo pulled it back with a better Sunday performance to finish on 20 marks, with Nigel’s cousin, and current leaders of the Intermediate British Championship William Caine and Beth Thomas, moving from third overnight into second position, with Dale and Etherington dropping to third at the end.

It was Guy Chandler who took his first victory at the top of the hotly contested Clubman class. Losing 5 marks on each of the days he finished 6 in front of Northern Irishman Stephen Murphy on his 280 Yamaha Twin shock. Top local in the class was Olly Megson in third, just one mark off Murphy.

Attention now shifts to the 2017 event which will take place on July 15th and 16th. Keep an eye out for more details over the coming weeks including information regarding the travel deals that have been put together which will drastically reduce the cost of attending the event, and details of when entries will be available.
