Phoenix Tools Championship Takes On New Venue For Round 4
This Sunday May 22nd the Phoenix Tools Premier Championship takes on a new venue which is Plymouth City Moto Parc which will host round 4 in the series plus round 2 of the R C Motorhomes Open 2-stroke Championship. A lot of time and effort has been put into this venue to bring it up to the necessary requirements for it to host what will be its first time for any competitive meeting.

In the Gabriel Insulations Open Expert Championship its Jamie Skuse on the Tony Maunders Racing Suzuki who extended his Championship lead at the last round and now heads the Stone Supplies / MotoXtreme Kawasaki of Jordan Carter by 23 points with Kelvin Townsend on the Tony Maunders Racing Yamaha in 3rd, but there is plenty of other talent in attendance including James Kensington, Jason Brooke, Sam Gabriel, Josh Taylor, Tom Moore, Jake Penny, Tommy Alba, Lewis Barfoot plus returning after missing the last round is Luke Dean on the Meredith Mx Suzuki to name a few.

In the Over 35’s it’s the TyreMarks Husqvarna of Wayne Shimell who heads the Championship from Jonathan Morrissey with James Price on the Ace Comfort Cooling Kawasaki just 7 points adrift in 3rd and Ben Harmon 8 points behind Price in 4th so the battle will be on.

The Over 40’s again has plenty of talent in attendance all out to try and catch Championship leader Stuart Rawlings who has a 32 points advantage over Richard Green with Steve Elford knocking on his door in 3rd. Other riders who will be hoping to do well will include the likes of James Knatchbull, Richard Tapscott, Martyn Tucker and Mark Gleadhill plus many more.

The Over 50’s so far this season has been dominated by David Ford on the Projuice KTM who has yet to lose a race, but this could all change this weekend as making his first appearance in the Championship will be Mark Roberts who will out to get as many points as possible after missing the opening three rounds. Alan Packer on the Simpsons Honda is another rider who has started to shine and he also could be a threat along with Adrian Toy and Dave Watson to name a few.

In the Junior Championship there has been some really good racing and it is set to commence. Harry Linton on the Bridgestone KTM took over the Championship lead at the last round from Dave Anthony on the Oakleaf Building Honda who for sure will be looking to get that lead back, but just 16 points behind Anthony is Tyron Cleaver who moved up from 5th in the standings to 3rd at the last round and will be looking to score well again, but they will all have to be at their best as joining them will be the likes of Ross Churchill, Jamie Buckingham, Harry Mitchell, Jay Lewis, Bradley Flagg and Rob Bassett plus many more.

Also featured will be round 2 of the R C Motorhomes Open 2-stroke Championship which saw Leighton Holmes on the Moto 64 KTM dominate the opening round in the tricky conditions winning both races, but in 2nd just 6 points behind is the R C Motorhomes / Gibbs Performance KTM of Will Worden who will be looking to close that gap along with the likes of James Kensington, Jamie Skuse, Scott Rundle, Grant Bryant and Henry Ebbutt to name a few.

Plymouth City Moto Parc has easy access and will be Signposted off the A38 at the Ernesettle Junction (Postcode PL5 2EY) with the first race at 10-30am. (There are still places available, for more info ring Greta on 01884 840078)
