Hull Auto’s Jack Howden Trophy takes place this Sunday

Tuesday May 24, 2016 at 2:51pm
On Sunday 29th May Hull Auto Club will run the second of their 2-lap Charity Trial, again in the stunning scenery and ace trials land on the east side of Farndale, North Yorks.

This is the 3nd running of The Jack Howden Trophy, Richard Sadler being the 2nd winner last year, since  the trophy was returned to the Club after being lost for 46 years in an attic! Before that, the last event was run in 1967 at Rosedale Bank top where a young up-coming Bob Clay riding a 250 Cotton beat “Kipper” Herrington on a 250 Bultaco on furthest clean on 17, with legendary Rob Edwards 3rd on 19 on his 265 Cotton.

Some years ago, because of the Charity aspect of this event, landowners allowed gates to be fitted between properties to link 11 farms to give 2 x 9 mile laps in figure of eight form about the start field, with 20 or more varied sections and a great ride round, all off road.

It’s an OPEN, enter on the day event for all Adults & Youths, there will be the normal 4 routes, Expert, Intermediate, Clubman A and Clubman B and George McGee will run his increasingly popular conducted D, E route adjacent to the start field.

The start is at Hill Houses, High Farndale, Kirkbymoorside, North Yorks, YO62 7LH at 10.30 prompt and will be flagged from the Hutton le Hole to Castleton road, down Blakey Bank to Church Houses for  Farndale East. Only use this way into Farndale.

Again, the village hall committee will be selling burgers and drinks after the event, these are free to observers & helpers.

In the event of bad weather, check Scarborough DMC or Guisborough & DMC websites & Trials Central for updates or for info contact Jim Austermuhle on 01751 417455.

Hull Auto Club would like to thank those who supported their 1st Farndale 2–lap Charity Trial on 24th April, which raised £865.30 for the Farndale Village Hall Fund. In these days where trials land is always at risk, such support for local projects will hopefully allow continued use of such great venues –so get yourself to Farndale to support this event if you can.
