Extreme Performance Bike Weekend at Santa Pod Raceway

The final round of the 2014 ACU Dragbike Championships is being held at Santa Pod Raceway this weekend.  Top Fuel Bike and Pro Stock Bike will not be competing at the event.

 

Funnybike.

Gary Jones leads the championship going into this event by 225 points, over Dave Peters and it is between them two for the title.  Reigning champion Stuart Crane will be there as well as Bob Brooks and Dale Leeks both have run in the 7.2sec bracket.

 

Comp Bike.

At the National Finals Allan Davies beat Phil Crossley in the final in a close race and leads the championship by a slim margin of 110points ahead of Crossley.  Kevin Osman will be trying to run 190mph plus for the first time this weekend.  Tony Clark found his form again at the last round and will be hoping to run 7.6sec at 170mph plus.  Former NAST ET Bracket Champion and NAST Gas Champion Dave Smart is moving from 8.50 bike to Comp Bike for this meeting.

 

Super Street Bike.

After setting and resetting the ACU ET record at the National Finals Steve Venables will be hoping for more good weather and try and improve on his 7.045 run he did in the final.  The win and the records and put Venables at the top of the points table 175points ahead of his Ven Racing teammate reigning ACU Super Street Bike Champion Graham Balchin.  ACU speed record holder (205.18) Garry Bowe and Pete Field will be trying to win the last race of the year.  Another rider to look out for is Richard Hann after running personal best figures of 7.303-198.01mph.
