Martin Claims ACU 250 Championship at Pembrey

Thursday September 18, 2014 at 2:03pm
Chris Martin (Dave Dean Honda) retained his ACU 250 Championship with two victories at Pembrey to take his points’ total to an unbeatable 275 points.

With just one more round to go, his closest rival, Ant Hodson (FCL Yamaha) is 57 points adrift. Martin, the 33-year-old Yorkshire man, was again fastest in qualifying and winner of both races, but once more he was under pressure from Hodson, the 38-year-old Lincolnshire racer, who chased him home in both races.

It was a great weekend for Darrell Higgins (Dennis Trollope Racing Yamaha), the 55-year-old from Melksham, Wiltshire, who was third home in both races.

Andrew Sawford (St Neots Motorcycles/TSM Yamaha), the 36-year-old from Sandy, Bedfordshire, clinched the first ever Pre-92 championship one round early, after taking second place in the class in race one.

The NG Cup is still up for grabs with Simon Hunt just 30 points ahead of Paul Metcalfe, with two races to go.
