RT Keedwell British Trials Championships heads to Low Row

The second round of the R T Keedwell Group sponsored British Trials Championships takes place Sunday 8th June.

The Richmond Club are the organisers and after a cracking round at Low Row, Swaledale last year the anticipation for this year's event is high. Once again Andrew Brown is the Clerk of the Course.

It will be two months since round 1 in Cumbria and there has been a lot of trials action in between with World rounds and of course the Scottish.

In the Championship class Michael Brown holds the early advantage after taking a three mark win from James Dabill in the opening encounter. Both riders finished 'The Lakes' clear of their rivals but Alexz Wigg has been out at the Worlds sharpening his skills. He will be looking to close the gap with the top pair as will current British number 3 Ross Danby on the Jotagas.

Youngsters Iwan Roberts and Jack Price both got amongst the established order in round 1 and it will be interesting to see if they can maintain their good senior start. We also have Ian Austermuhle entered and it will be interesting to see if he can give all the regulars a run for their money. He has done so many times in the past despite only contesting occasional rounds.

No less than 27 riders will be contesting the Championship course which like the Experts will consist of 3 laps of 12 sections.

The Expert class has produced some interesting early results. Guy Kendrew took the clear win in Cumbria from Ben Sprigg who posted his best ever BTC result in March. Since then Kendrew took a magnificent fourth place at the Scottish so his confidence will rightly be high. Guy will need however to continue his good form to keep the rest at bay ( there are over 30 riders in the class) including the likes of James Stones, Joel Edwards and William Brockbank who all featured well at the opening round.

Three youth riders have entered Dan Peace who topped the class in April, Tom Hooper and Thomas Minta. All three have the ability to make their 125's sing.

Many people from the North Yorkshire area will know Low Row well enough but if you are visiting for the first time you will be able to pick up the signs from Reeth. You will find the village in Swaledale which stretches along the main road 3 miles from Reeth between Healaugh and Gunnerside.

Start time for Sundays event 9.30 am when the Expert Class will get away before the Championship line up.
