British Sidecar Cross returns to action at Wooley Grange this weekend

This Sunday the second round of the 2014 Maxxis British Sidecarcross championships will take place at the Wooley Grange track in Co Durham hosted by the North East motocross club.

After the opening round at Culham back in march current champions, Stuart Brown / Josh Chamberlain, lead the series with a maximum score of 75 points. Not only did they ride well at Culham but in the world championships after three rounds they are in fourth place so on that form they could well score another maximum on Sunday.

In second place are Daniel and Joe Millard who made a welcome return at Culham after a series of injuries and machine problems wrecked their 2013 season. They are back on a fourstroke powered machine using a KTM motor and are showing signs of getting back their old speed. Just two points behind them are last year’s runners up, Richard Jenkins / Dan Chamberlain, who after an early season injury scare are now back on track and last weekend finished just behind Brown in both races at the Czech GP. They won the opening race at Wooley Grange last year so will be hoping to improve on that this time.

In addition to the top English runners there will be four crews from Northern Ireland headed by Neil Campbell / Ross Graham who are currently in eighth place. Also making the journey are Emma Moulds / Nikki Adair, Gary Moulds / Shane Taylor and Ricky Portis / Roy Beattie. Campbell and Portis are in the top two places in the NI championships after two rounds.

In addition to the three sidecars championship races there will be two adult solo support classes plus a combined BW85 and SW 85 class and a combined junior 65 and auto class.

Admission will be a very reasonable £10 for adults and £5 for kids and the track will be signposted from the A68. The full address of the track is: Wooley Grange Farm, Stanley, Crook, Co Durham, DL15 9AN
