Second round of the ACU Dragbike Championships heads to Shakespeare County Raceway

The second round the ACU Championships are being held at Shakespeare County Raceway on the 3rd-5th May on the Bank Holiday weekend.

Funnybike.

Former champion Maarten Zijlstra from Holland will be one of the European riders competing at Shakespeare County.  He won this event last year.  Dave Peters is a rider who has run some quick times at this track.  Dale Leeks from Warpspeed Racing will be hoping to get back into the 7.5sec zone.  Harold Wolfenden will be hoping for better times with his new bike (ex Al Young) after a few problems when he debut the bike at Santa Pod.

Comp Bike.

Phil Crossley made a great start to the new season with a personal best 7.585 and reached the semi-finals before rain stopped the meeting.  There were also personal bests for Allan Davies 7.581 at 175.73 and Kevin Osman 7.861 at 186.00, which was top speed of the meeting.  Tony Clark won this event last year and will be hoping for a repeat.

Super Street Bike.

Reigning ACU Super Street Bike champion Graham Balchin won this event in 2013.  He was the number qualifier at Santa Pod and set a European FIM Championship et record of 7.193.  The APIRA Champion Chris Reed will be the number one challenger to Balchin and in the past they have had close races.
