NORA-MX half term report and exciting plans for the rest of 2013 and into next year
Over the first six rounds of our DWT sponsored championship more than 200 riders have competed with the club ensuring healthy fields and exciting racing in all adult and youth classes.

Now, after a short summer break, the action returns for three meetings in September, when we will be delighted to welcome old and new riders just as much as this year’s championship regulars.

The first meeting will be at the former British Grand Prix venue of Culham (OX14 3DA) on September 8. The action then moves to one of the club’s most popular tracks at Wroxton (OX15 6EU) on the 22nd, then the final round will be at Grittenham in Hampshire (SN14 4JW) on the 29th.

As usual all riders will get three races plus a fifteen minute practice session which includes ten minutes of electronically timed qualifying. So loads of track time!

There are classes to suit all ages and abilities. In the adults there is a class for Rookies (riding in their first adult season) and Clubmen; another for faster riders which is split in Inters and Expert classes; plus a well supported Masters class for riders over 35. Such is the popularity of the Masters class, that the ACU has handed the club series official British Championship status!

In the youth ranks there is racing for 50s, 100s, 150s and 250s, with the 250 class often being over subscribed this year.

EVO class launched

In addition a brand new class, aimed at getting old quads (and riders) out of retirement, will be run at the final three rounds. The ‘Zip EVO Cup’ for pre-2004 machines is being trialed and will then be run as a full championship next year if it proves popular.

To keep rules simple we have has split the class into two groups. Both classes will run in the same race.  The EVO class will be for production machines of any kind, such as the Yamaha Banshee or Honda TRX400EX. A second group - called EVO PLUS - will be for any hybrid machines built using aftermarket chassis, such as Philips, Laeger or VLS.

At each round the riders will get practice, plus three ten minute (plus one lap) races, with the focus firmly on fun. To keep costs sensible while the class becomes established, entry will be pegged at just £35 per round this year, which includes entry, day licence, day membership and transponder.

Riders who wish to compete in all three rounds can pay just £100 in advance to cover all three meetings. You will be able to enter via the NORA club's online entry system, or on the day at an area set up especially at the Zip truck for EVO competitors. Riders wanting more details should call Rob McDonnell on 07717 704150 or Stuart Walker on 07836 242000.

Dates for 2014

We appreciate that it is never too early to start planning for next season, especially for those riders who have families to consider, so to help we have now finalised our 2014 schedule.

The year will start with a non-championship race in mid-March, to allow people to blow away the winter cobwebs and get their machines set up, before the nine round series gets underway proper on March 30. Tracks will be confirmed at a later date, though once again expect a roster of excellent venues like this year.

  The dates are:

Round 0    March 16th (non championship)         Round 1    March 30th          Round 2    April 20th          Round 3    May 11th          Round 4    May 25th          Round 5    June 15th          Round 6    July 6th          Round 7    July 20th          Round 8    September 7th          Round 9    September 21st          Reserve    October 5th

DWT Contingency Fund

Riders at NORA MX meetings are now eligible to win up to £150 per meeting after the club signed a lucrative sponsorship deal with leading tyre firm DWT.

Under the DWT contingency programme the top three riders in the overall standings in all adult and most 250 Youth classes can win cash if they are using new DWT tyres bought from an official DWT dealer.

The biggest payout is in the Expert class with £150 for a win, £75 for second and £40 for third. The next highest payout comes in the Inters class with £100 (first), £60 (second) and £40 (third).

In the Masters class (group A and B), Clubman, Rookie, 250 Open, 250 Modified and 250 Standard classes the awards will be £70 (first), £50 (second) and £30 (third).

Riders need to register for the scheme, buy tyres in 2013 from official dealers approved by the importer, ATVs Only, (and have a receipt to prove it), and carry four DWT stickers on their machine. There will need to be at least ten riders in each class or there will be no prizes awarded.

In addition, no riders or teams already sponsored by DWT are eligible to take part in the scheme.

  2013 Presentation

Plans are being made the 2013 Awards Presentation, which is provisionally scheduled for February 15th 2014. Keep the date free and we will confirm it as soon as the venue is booked.
