After four exciting rounds of the best youth riders in the UK battling it out for a British championship title, this years British Youth Nationals finished at Milton Moto Parc in a blaze of glory.
Going into the final round this past weekend all four youth titles were still up for grabs which made it one of the best and exhilarating events of the year.
Three riders dominated the 65cc class at Milton with Lewis Hall, Curtis Trimble and Joel Rizzi battling it right until the final checkered flag in the very last race. Lewis pipped Curtis to the overall British championship after both riders put on a stunning performance especially in the final race as conditions became extremely slippery from the gate drop. Same can be said for the championship top 6 who were Joel Rizzi, Jack Galvin, Drew Kemp and Preston Williams who were all magnificent throughout the year.
Lewis Hall 2013 British 65cc Champion -
“Its been a great year racing with the British youth Nationals, I have rode consistent all year round and I am looking forward to racing on a 85cc next year.”
With only 2 points separating Harry Kimber and Jed Etchells going into the final race of the year, the SW85 crown was still there for the taking for both riders. Harry made a great start and led for four laps until a mistake on the greasy surface allowed Dylan Woodcock to pass and for the lead, Jed continued to chase hard for the remaining of the race but Harry held on to win his British championship title by only four very tight points. Dylan, Nathan Claughan, Callum Green and Aidan Mcdonough rounded out the top 6 in the overall championship.

“I'm so happy right now, it means so much to win a ACU British Championship. Going into the last round at milton I only had a 8 point lead so I knew it was going to be tough but I knew what I had to do and it worked out for me.”
Jay Hague showed determination and sheer raw speed to win this years BW85 British crown, Jay had to contest with hard charger Albie Wilkie as his closest rival, both riders battled throughout the year for the number one spot with Jay finally out gunning Albie at Milton Malsor.
Right the way through all four rounds the pace was super hot which made for entertaining battles throughout the season. David Galvin finished third in the championship from Billy King, Ben Edwards and Daniel Bewley.

“I’m buzzing after today, last year I broke my shoulder which meant I couldn’t win the championship. I’ve trained hard all year and focused on winning it, I’m now moving up to the 125cc class in 2014. My year has been really good and thanks to all my sponsors for all their support.”
In the Open Youth class to say the racing has been close is a major understatement, throughout the year Brad Todd, John Adamson, Jay Lamb, Jack Kelly have been setting the pace in a super competitive series. Brad showed guts, determination and class to win at Milton with a majestic ride which saw him crowned British champion, John and Jay rode awesome with Jay taking three race wins which gained him third in the championship behind John who finished runner up. Joe Hodgson finished 4th one point ahead of injured Jack Kelly and William Wall finishing in 6th.

“It’s unbelievable to be British champion, I’ve trained really hard throughout the winter and now its paid off for us, I broke my pelvis 5 or 6 weeks ago and that gave me the motivation to get back and train hard. My next goal is to move to the Maxxis British championship MX2 class and hopefully gain some good results there.”
Gareth Hockey of RHL Activities had this to say after a breath-taking final round, “I can't say this year has been all positive but I have seen what I believe is the future of British and World motocross racing at the British Youth Nationals. We have had several knock backs and being honest the job of changing, enthusing and raising the youth motocross to the level and recognition I feel it deserves is a bigger job than I personally thought it was going to be, this season has proved without a doubt that there are lots of other like-minded individuals within our sport, willing to join the battle with us and for that a big thank you goes out to all of our 2013
supporters.
