Team GB has finished a fantastic second behind France at the historic Coupe de L’Avenir Motocross, which is essentially a mini Under-21 version of the Motocross of Nations.
Taking place in Belgium, an amazing effort was put in from the riders, their families and the team management to put the Union Jack firmly on the map when it comes to youth motocross, not only in terms of on-track results but also in terms of their commitment, hard work and team spirit.
In the Open class, Ollie Colmer stepped in as a late replacement for the injured Ben Mustoe, and boy was Ollie on form, going 2-5-3 with some superb riding for third in the Individual standings. Backed up by Josh Vail and Harry Lee, the team in the Open class finished sixth.
Onto the 85cc category, where our riders excelled and took the Team victory in this class, with Harley Marczak taking the Individual honours with an excellent race two victory. Also getting in on the act of race wins was Olly Waters who won the last race of the weekend. Cohen Jagielski defied the pain from an injured hand to put in three superb rides as well.
Team GB were also on fire in the 65cc, where Jett Gardiner went 2-2 for second overall, and the team also claimed the Silver medal in their class. Forrest Roberts backed up Jett with a mighty fine 5-6, and Alfie Cotter pitched in with an excellent 11th & 13th.
Dave Willet, Team GB manager, said of the weekend, “Second place at the 2026 Coupe! That’s three straight years on the podium, which is unreal. The vibe with our riders and their parents this year was absolutely amazing. We’re not just making waves in the UK anymore – we’re turning heads worldwide – I had messages from people in the USA. Since I stepped up as team manager, we’ve been P10 to podium finishes at worlds. It’s wild. Massive shoutout to Lee, Glen, and Ash – absolute legends! And let’s not forget the ACU and our awesome sponsors. Without these people involved, none of this magic would be happening. We’re not just a team, we’re a force to be reckoned with. Here’s to more podiums and unforgettable fun moments for all involved.”
