There is no doubt that Jaime Busto is perhaps the most extrovert rider to ever grace the sport of Trial, so if there was one reason alone to visit X-Trial Leeds when it comes to the First Direct Bank Arena – Leeds on Saturday 24 January – the highly entertaining Spanish rider is just that. When he isn’t posting his high-flying antics on his social channels, the factory GAS GAS team leader is taking the battle to his compatriot Toni Bou and continues to be the reigning champion’s closest rival both indoors and outdoors.
The twenty-eight-year-old from the Basque country in Spain has made the X-Trial World Championship podium on no less than seven occasions, including a trio of silver medals over the last three seasons since his return to GASGAS. The only man other than Toni Bou to have won an X-Trial in the last five years, Busto took his first win at Paris in 2018 and has followed that up with successes at Andorra la Vella, Wiener Neustadt, Tallinn and Madrid over more recent seasons.
Sometimes guilty of putting fan entertainment ahead of outright performance, you guarantee that Busto will be going all out early next year to make his mark, as X-Trial Leeds becomes the first ever motorcycle event to be hosted at the impressive city centre venue.
