UPDATE: AMPED ACU Junior Enduro Academy

Monday June 2, 2025 at 3:32pm

The AMPED ACU Junior Enduro Academy held the second training event of 2025 on Friday, at a private farm venue in Mid Wales, close to Rhayader.

Whereas the first event was run the day after an event so we could ride a well-used special test, we purposely planned this event to be the day before round two of the Welsh Sprint Enduro Championship. The day was split into approx. 4-5 hours of grass track special test training followed by Alex Snow travelling to the Welsh sprint event to walk the event special test with the squad members, which was a try it and see that worked out really well, imparting advice and knowledge as he went.

Running on a Friday again seemed to work well, while an increased number of riders signalled that what we did at the first event must have gone down well!

Jamie McCanney again attended as a guest instructor, giving more great advice to the riders. With the group split based on ability, Jamie took one of the groups together with myself, while Alex put the other group through its paces. The two short loops were ideal for coaching purposes, giving many of the riders that aren't usually able to practice on ‘Welsh grass’ the opportunity to do exactly that.

With two training events now complete, the third instalment will be the Saturday after the Welsh Two Day, having secured use of one of the tests that will be used in the event. In addition, 9-time Enduro World Champion Steve Holcombe will be on hand as a guest instructor (sadly not on a bike as his knee surgery will keep him from riding for several months more). Steve has also agreed to spend a couple of hours talking to everyone.

To conclude, a great day with riders now starting to open up a little, becoming more confident, and ask more questions.
