Derby Phoenix MCC Head to Cadwell Park on June 11th and 12th

Wednesday June 8, 2016 at 2:11pm
Yorkshireman Lee Wilson leads the Derby Phoenix club’s 1300cc Four stroke championship by 23 points going into the second round of the series at Cadwell Park, Lincolnshire on Saturday and Sunday on June 11th and 12th.

The 33-year-old from Barnsley notched up a hat trick of wins in the opening round at Snetterton, with closest rival Matt Stevenson, from Ripon second in the points table, after two thirds and a second at the Norfolk circuit.

The opposition at Cadwell is formidable, including Kingsley Ruddy and Stuart Martin.

Talented teenager Jordan Rushby tops both the SuperStock and the Formula 600 classes.

The 18-year-old from Beverley, Yorkshire scored maximum points in round one and leads Brendan Mallinder by 32 in the F600 series and Grant McIntosh by 31 in the SuperStock class.

The Pearson brothers, Jamie and Shane, from Derby will be in action at Cadwell.

Jamie, the 25-year-old, will be out in the Pre-Injection championship, where Justin Stephenson leads the series on 73.

Shane Pearson, 29, looks likely to be among the front runners in the opening round of the Thunderbikes championship.

Two guest races will add some extra sparkle to what promises to be a good meeting.

There will be a round of the Two Stroke GP series. Rich Grinling is among the 15-strong line-up.

One of Britain’s oldest races, the Yellowbelly Cup, is open only to riders from Lincolnshire. The 10-lap handicap event will be run on the Sunday, where Mark Ess, Stuart Martin and Tim and Tom Neave should be in the thick of things.

With 17 races on the Saturday and 19 on the Sunday, it promises to be an interesting, exciting and hectic meeting.

Practice starts at 9.0am on both days, with racing underway at 10.55am on the Saturday and 9.5 the following day.

Adult admission is £15 on both days, children aged between 13 and 15 £8, while those under 13 are free.
